MUFC set up against Outlaws FC in Rokonicha Champions Trophy final

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, AUG 13 (NPN): Medziphema United Football Club (MUFC) came from behind to defeat Piphema United Football Club (PUFC) 2-1 in the second semi-final of the Rokonicha Champions Trophy at Chümoukedima Football Stadium on Thursday, booking their place in the grand final against Outlaws FC.
PUFC took the lead just before halftime after Vikedo (12) converted a penalty in the 44th minute to give his side a 1-0 advantage at the break.
MUFC, however, staged a strong comeback in the second half. Mangal (44) restored parity in the 65th minute before Kevisede (15) scored the decisive goal in the 73rd minute to complete the turnaround and seal MUFC’s place in the title clash.
The match witnessed several disciplinary actions from the referee. MUFC’s Rokolhoukho (25) was cautioned in the 31st minute, while PUFC’s Kikrusezo (25) received a yellow card in the 63rd minute. Deep into stoppage time, Kevisevor (8) of MUFC and Hetilo (17) of PUFC were both shown yellow cards in the 90+6th minute. MUFC’s Krudelie (5) was also sent off with a red card during stoppage time.
Kekruzelie (12) of MUFC was adjudged the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
The match patron was Temsu Longkumer, District Horticulture Officer, Chümoukedima.
With the victory, MUFC advanced to the grand final, where they will face Outlaws FC on August 15 at 6 p.m. The final will be graced by Guest of Honour Roko Angami, OSD, Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, Treasurer of the Nagaland Football Association, and former international footballer.
