Nagaland governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on Friday expressed confidence that a final agreement– one that was “fair to most of us” and meets the expectations and aspirations– would be reached soon.
According to a Raj Bhavan statement, governor, who visited Tuophema village and held an interaction programme at Village Council Hall, Tuophema village, reminded that Nagas were expecting a lasting peace agreement.
Prof.Mukhi said he has high regards for the Nagas as they resisted and gave a tough fight to the Britishers. Governor said that cultural activities, dances, songs dramas were in the blood of Nagas as observed on the inaugural day of Hornbill festival.
On the employment sector, he said that government jobs were almost exhausted now. He, therefore, said the youth specially the literate youth need to venture and expedite in the field of agriculture as their profession.
Having agriculture at their own land with the latest technologies with the help of the government will boost up the economy of the state, Prof.Mukhi added.
During the programme, he said that farmers should be issued land cards so that they could be guided at what type of crops should be sowed in their soil.
He also assured that the government was committed to provide seeds, manure for the dedicated farmers, or pesticides if essential.
Market linkage, transportation, modern facilities etc being another important factor, he assured that the government would take them into account. He further stated that the government would ensure the crops were being insured in the PM scheme to get the full return of their produce. He added that farmers should get proper value for the produce.
Earlier, Tuophema village council vice chairman, Dziesengulie Seyie, delivered welcome address, a cultural show was presented by Tuophema Women Cultural group and Neichiituo Rio and Party.
A brief report was presented by joint forest management committee, Tuophema and Khrukhre VLO Tuophema.
Later, the governor also visited rural museum, Amphitheatre and the Kense Morung of the village.
