The newly constructed multi-level parking facility at the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD) Office, Kohima, was inaugurated on March 13 by R. Rithrong, personal secretary to the Minister for PWD (Housing), on behalf of Minister P. Bashangmongba Chang.
According to DIPR, speaking on behalf of the minister, Rithrong said the completion of the project marks a significant step in addressing the long-standing issue of limited parking space at the office premises. With the growing number of vehicles, the facility will provide organized and convenient parking for staff and visitors.
He conveyed appreciation to the construction firm, engineers and technical team for their dedication and timely completion of the project, while acknowledging the vision of the State Government under chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio in strengthening infrastructure and improving public service delivery.
A technical report on the project was presented by Executive Engineer, PWD (Housing), Central Division, Kohima, Er. Nungsang Jamir, who informed that the total estimated cost of the building was Rs. 440.68 lakh.
Engineer-in-Chief, NPWD, Er. K. Imnajungba Jamir, in his speech, expressed gratitude to the State Government, the initiative of the PWD (Housing) Minister, engineers and contractors for their contribution to the successful completion of the project. He emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in easing traffic congestion and improving urban management in the capital.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Chief Engineer, PWD (Housing), Nagaland, Er. K. Nikato Assumi. Invocation and dedicatory prayer by M. Chuba Lam, associate pastor (Youth), Khiamniungan Baptist Church, Kohima. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the chairperson.
