
A multi-utility building-cum-indoor stadium was inaugurated by Eshak Konyak, MLA, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mon Thavaseelan K at Longchang under Mon district on Wednesday.
In a press release, personal secretary to MLA, P. Shampa Konyak said the MLA, who himself a sports enthusiast, encouraged the people to utilise the facility and build fit and healthy society.
Eshak also appreciated the Department of Under-Developed Areas (DUDA) for funding the project, the contractor concern for timely completion, the village council of Longchang and other civil societies leaders for cooperation and also Badminton Hub, Nagarjan Dimapur for logistic support.
In a short speech, DC Thavaseelan highlighted various initiatives taken up by the local MLAs from Mon district and the government of Nagaland particularly on upgradation of healthcare services and sporting facilities.
Mon District Badminton Association president, Poangba Konyak, also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the chief guest was given guard of honour by the Village Guards personnel and unveiled the inaugural plaque after dedicatory prayer was offered by LVBC Pastor Rev. Ashoak.
The function was chaired by the EAC Longchang Cthitu Nienu, welcome note was delivered by Longchang village council chairman, S.Taiwang and vote of thanks by Longchang Area Students’ Union president, Wangkhao Angtok.
