Multipurpose Hall at Sechü (Zubza) to empower youth

The inauguration of a Multipurpose Hall at Chalietsüdi, Sechü (Zubza) on Tuesday marked a major stride in Nagaland’s commitment to youth empowerment through sports. The facility was dedicated by Abu Metha, advisor to the Chief Minister and secretary general of the Nagaland Olympic Association.
According to DIPR, the hall implemented by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, has been described by Metha as “an investment in the dreams of our youth,” emphasizing that the project goes beyond infrastructure—it is a foundation for opportunity and future excellence. Lauding public support, Metha termed the achievement a shared victory and announced the state’s target to establish similar infrastructure across all 17 districts within the year.
Metha paid tribute to Nagaland’s sporting icons including Olympic archer Chekrovolu Swüro and notable footballers from the region.
Acknowledging chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio’s vision, he expressed confidence that the new hall would produce champions “in sport, in character, and in spirit.”
Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports, S. Keoshu Yimkhiung, congratulated the community and emphasized the need for greater dedication and professionalism among youth.
He urged village councils to identify and nurture emerging talent, aligning efforts with the government’s goal to produce athletes for the international stage.
Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, also addressed the gathering, stating, “This is more than a building. It is a foundation for opportunity, where dreams will take root and champions will rise.” She credited Abu Metha for championing the project, reinforcing its value to youth development.
Director of Youth Resources & Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose, who chaired the programme, welcomed dignitaries and highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts in constructing indoor multipurpose sports complexes across the state. He noted that many projects are nearing completion and are being financed through state resources.
The programme featured a prayer led by Rev. Javitso Lhousa, executive secretary of the Western Angami Baptist Church Council. Special musical performances were presented by Asieno Kielienyü and students of Government Higher Secondary School, Sechü (Zubza). The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Neidilhoutuo Neibu Sechü, expressing community appreciation and hope for the future.
