The Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell conducted a targeted raid at a hotel on Narayan Dhuru Street in the Pydhonie area, acting on a tip-off about an illegal arms deal. Five individuals were arrested and three pistols, three magazines, and 21 live cartridges were recovered from the suspects, who could not produce valid licenses for the weapons.
The five accused – all aged between 19 and 26 and hailing from Rajasthan and Haryana – have been identified as Surendra Amarlalji Minna, Rohit Ghanshyam Mina, Kartik Bijander Parcha, Deepak Kumar Chitarmal Bil, and Ronuronak Pannalal Merotha. They allegedly admitted to having brought the firearms for sale.
A case has been registered at Pydhonie Police Station under Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act, as well as Sections 37(1)(A) and 135.
Investigators are now probing potential links to the Bishnoi gang, a notorious criminal network, and are working to trace the source of the weapons and determine whether the group is part of a larger illegal arms trafficking operation.
