Municipal Authorities SLAB meeting

The 1st meeting of State Level Advisory Board (SLAB) has been convened on June 7, 2018, 11 a.m under the chairmanship of the commissioner & secretary, Urban Development in the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Urban Development, Kohima to deliberate on the implementation of SWM Rules 2016.
A report from DIPR said that according to an Urban Development Department circular, the ‘Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016’ was launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India and the state has constituted SLAB for advising municipal authorities on implementation of ‘SWM Rules, 2016’ under Urban Development Department, Government of Nagaland.
All states/UTs have to prepare a state policy and solid waste management strategy in consultation with stakeholders i.e. all members of SLAB. Also, the Supreme Court of India, in an order, has directed the secretaries of Urban Development Department, including Nagaland, to be present in court on the next date of hearing, July 10.
Accordingly, the 1st meeting of SLAB has been convened.
All members of the SLAB including all Deputy Commissioners & Administrators, Municipal/Town Councils have been requested to make it convenient to attend the meeting without fail.
