Staff Reporter

The Native Trax Society (NTS) is gearing up to host the highly anticipated 15th edition of the Music Awards of Nagaland (MAN) at the picturesque Green Park, Chumoükedima on November 11. Inviting artistes, recording studios, producers, and their representatives, NTS is seeking original compositions recorded within Nagaland, released between September 1, 2022, and the present date.

Addressing a section of media fraternity at a press conference at Bar Code restaurant on Friday, president NTS, Imli Lee, shared the mission of MAN, emphasizing that the annual event aims to spotlight, honor, and extend support to Naga musicians and professionals in the local music industry.

He added that the 15th edition of MAN would feature 17 award categories, judged by a panel of three experts; one each from the international music scene, Bollywood, and a distinguished local musician.
In regards to submissions of forms for entry, Lee informed that separate forms were required for artistes and bands wishing to submit more than one entry, but with a maximum of three submissions per artiste or band.

He also informed that each entry must include a signed and filled up entry form, an audio song/ music video (or the audio video link), lyrics in MS Word or text document format. Entries for Hindi/local, dialects should include English translation, and artiste/band profile in MS Word or text document format, with a photograph.

Lee further informed that deadline for submission of entries is September 25, 2023, where one can download the entry forms and rules, Music Awards of Nagaland Facebook Page, or by contacting 7005251186 or 8794399471.
Responding to queries about state sponsorship, Lee expressed his disappointment, highlighting that although MAN was the sole state award for music, no dedicated funding has been allocated. He thereby urged state government to earmark a specific budget for the Music Awards.

Adding to this, event manager, Sentimeren Pongen, underscored NTS’s unwavering commitment to nurturing local musical talent, having successfully organized MAN for 15 years. He also pointed out that several past awardees have gone on to achieve recognition at national and international levels. Regarding tickets for the award ceremony at Green Park on November 11, Lee announced that donor tickets will be priced at Rs. 2000, while general admission will be Rs. 500.
