The Merangkong Laishir Telungjem (MLT) has released a musical tribute titled “Longjanglepzük”, commemorating the life, faith and legacy of Longjanglepzuk, the first Ao Naga from Merangkong village to embrace Christianity.
According to the MLT, Longjanglepzuk was baptised at Sibsagar, Assam, on September 7, 1851, marking a significant milestone in the Christian history of the community.
Composed by Imna Yaden, the song is an initiative of the MLT to preserve and promote the community’s historical and spiritual heritage. The project seeks to inspire present and future generations by highlighting the courage and faith of early Christian converts.
The song dedication ceremony was held at Bethel Prayer Home, Nuton Bosti, Dimapur. The dedicatory prayer and handing over of the launch certificate to composer Imna Yaden were conducted by founder-director of Bethel Prayer Home, R. Amenla Imsong.

As part of the commemoration, a special Thanksgiving Programme will be held at Merangkong village on September 7, coinciding with the 175th anniversary of Longjanglepzuk’s baptism.
The community and well-wishers have been invited to join the programme and mark the historic milestone.
