MUSiK-A to stage Nagaland’s first kids-only musical “Annie the Kid” on October 18

Staff Reporter

MUSiK-A is set to present the region’s first-ever kids-only musical, “Annie the Kid,” on October 18 at Town Hall, Dimapur. Produced by MUSiK-A and supported by the Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), the musical will feature an all-children cast and will be graced by Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, as the special guest.
Announcing the event at a press conference held at MUSiK-A School, Diphupar on October 8, Director Alobo Naga shared that around 25 students will take on main roles, with nearly 200 students involved in total. He said auditions were held in March and April, followed by intensive workshops conducted by professionals from Hills Theatre, Nagaland.
Lead actor Akirapen Zeliang, who plays Annie, said preparations began in May, with daily rehearsals to ensure a memorable performance. Fellow cast member Kevizhapu highlighted that since MUSiK-A’s founding in 2016 by Alobo Naga, the school has hosted annual concerts, but this year marks a milestone with its first full musical production.
Nitokali, another performer, expressed pride in working under an acclaimed creative team, including director Bendang Walling, assistant director Bubu Sechü, choreographers Roop and Ruby Meitei, audio designer Kibulong Imsong, set designer Limanungdang Ao, and lighting designer Bikash Duwara.
“This musical is not just about singing, acting, and dancing,” said cast member Chabou Mepfuo. “It’s about teamwork, discipline, and building confidence through theatre.”
Likusa Shikhu announced that the show will begin at 6:00 PM and revealed that nearly 80% of tickets have already been sold. On behalf of the cast, Emily thanked parents, mentors, and supporters, calling it a historic moment for children’s theatre in Nagaland.
Tickets for “Annie the Kid” are available exclusively online at Ahibi.in, offering seat-specific booking for audiences.
