Several thousand Muslims of Nagaland observed Eid-ul-Fitr along with the rest of the world Monday. The Muslim community packed the Iddgah ground in their thousands to offer ‘namaz’ (mass prayers) on the occasion.
Community members under Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) and Diphupar Muslim Community (DMC) joined the celebration. According to MCD joint secretary F. Rahman, Eid ul-Fitr Namaz was conducted by Imam Romiz Akram at the Diphupar Anchalik Jame Masjid, 4th Mile.
In a spirit of unity, the community celebrated Eid ul-Fitr with the inmates of the Central Jail Dimapur and the namaz for the inmates was conducted by Imam Hafiz Inam Uddin.
To spread the joy of the occasion, refreshments were shared with all the inmates, regardless of their religion. The community prayed for peace and goodwill for the people of Nagaland, MCD stated.
