Myanmar Forms New Government, Ends Emergency Rule Ahead of Elections

Myanmar’s National Defence and Security Council (NDSC) has announced the formation of a new union government headed by U Nyo Saw as Prime Minister, and a new State Security and Peace Commission chaired by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. The NDSC also revoked the prior order granting sovereign power to the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and ended the long-standing state of emergency in preparation for general elections.

Meanwhile, the country is advancing its digital transformation through the Myanmar Digital Economy Roadmap 2030. Officials highlighted the digital economy’s potential to drive national growth, with coordinated action planned across nine sectors and 77 strategic initiatives.
