The Nagaland Athletics Association has announced that the 2nd Nagaland Junior Athletics Championships 2025 will be held on September 10 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima. The championship is set to feature competitions for both boys and girls across three age categories: Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18.
In the Under-14 category, athletes will compete in triathlon events designed to encourage early development in multiple disciplines. Events under Triathlon (A) will include 60 meters sprint, long jump with a 5-meter approach, and high jump (scissor). Triathlon (B) will consist of 60 meters sprint, long jump (5m approach), and back throw (1 kg shot put). Triathlon (C) will include 60 meters sprint, long jump (5m approach), and a 600 meters run. These events will be held for both boys and girls.
For the Under-16 category, boys will compete in 60 meters, 600 meters, high jump (scissor only), long jump (5m approach), and shot put (4 kg). Girls in the same category will compete in 60 meters, 600 meters, high jump (scissor only), long jump (5m approach), and shot put (3 kg).
The Under-18 category will feature standard track and field events. Boys will take part in 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, high jump, long jump, and shot put (5 kg), while girls will compete in 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, high jump, long jump, and shot put (3 kg).
Only district athletics associations that have successfully conducted their district junior meets will be eligible to send entries for participation. Any entries received from other sources or through other means will not be accepted under any circumstances. All participating athletes must possess a valid AFI-UID to be eligible for competition.
Each athlete in the Under-16 and Under-18 categories will be allowed to participate in a maximum of two events, while those in the Under-14 category may participate in only one triathlon event. Districts may send up to two entries per event in each age group.
The last date for registration has been set for September 6, 2025, and the registration fee is Rs 100 per event. Participants are required to make their own arrangements for accommodation and food during the championship. Athletes who display outstanding performances during the competition will be considered for selection to represent Nagaland at the upcoming 36th East Junior Athletics Championship 2025.
