DIMAPUR: Nagaland Association for Adventure Mountaineering and Education (NAAME) observed its 20th Foundation Day on October 3 with a trek cum cleanliness drive to Mt. Terogvu, the highest peak under Tseminyu district, in collaboration with the Terogvunyu Youth Organisation (TYO).
The event, attended by more than 30 members, was chaired by Lawrence Keyho, with an invocation prayer led by Khrieketoulie Kintso. An overview of the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) was presented by NAAME Team Leader Akho Phira.
Delivering the exhortation, NAAME president Ruokuovikho Chale reflected on the organisation’s two decade journey, highlighting its consistent efforts in promoting adventure and sports activities, eco tourism, and community capacity building, while keeping environment conservation and youth engagement at the centre.
Prominent eco tourism pioneers, including George Richa (proprietor of Yedikha Campsite, Jakhama) and Nicholas Leno (tour guide), shared their experiences to encourage the gathering. They also highlighted possibilities of developing hospitality hotspots and tour circuits within villages and Tseminyu district to enhance tourism beyond existing avenues.
The event culminated with the release of NAAME’s Annual Report 2025 26, reaffirming the organisation’s vision to advance its work through collective and community engagement. The vote of thanks was delivered by Vilhoubeinuo Sorunuo, followed by a mass prayer.
