NABARD celebrates ‘Naga loinloom’

Commemorating “National Handloom Day”, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Nagaland Regional Office in partnership with Exotic Echo jointly organised an event celebrating “Naga Loinloom” from August 11-13 at Weavers Place, Diezephe Village, Dimapur.

A press release by NABARD stated that inaugurating the event, general manager of NABARD, Nagaland regional office, Tiakala Ao outlined various interventions made by NABARD for the development of weavers’ community.

She exhorted indigenous weavers to hone their marketing and presentation skills in order to compete in today’s market.

Ao also further emphasised on weavers and agencies involved in marketing to focus on standardization, product differentiation and niche marketing to attract wider range of customers for the loinloom products.

Major highlights of the event were the exposure to new loinloom product development at the Exotic Echo Design and Display unit for the participant weavers and interactive session of participants with master weavers and trainers for new design ideas and patterns.

NABARD said participants were also provided with capacity building sessions on improving their marketing and storytelling skills and hands-on training on setting up of looms for weaving of new designs.

The event was attended by indigenous weavers from across the state of Nagaland displaying their loinloom products.
