Staff Reporter

A PC game ‘Sojourn Past’ developed by Naga gaming startup “ReDimension Games” (RDG), has been nominated among the top five finalists for the upcoming game of the year award at the 15th India Game Developer Conference (IGDC), which is scheduled to be held from November 2 to 4 at HICC Hyderabad.

IGDC award is an initiative by the IGDC to identify and reward game developers and studios across various categories, which is also one of the most significant premier game developer conference in India and South Asia, organized by industry volunteers, with support from corporates and industry leaders to enable the growth of the Indian gaming ecosystem, and to attract enthusiastic participation from game developers, publishers and investors every year.

The nominations are being judged by an international jury consisting of leaders from different verticals of the games industry. Speaking exclusively to Nagaland Post, Programmer and designer RDG Pekru informed that inspiration filled with intentional game, art and design along with artist and animator Imlijungshi and music composer Loyievi the RDG studio came to light in 2018.

Hungry towards their passion, in 2022, the trio started their first project development ‘Sojourn Past’, an action and adventurous game, themed around the idea of dealing with grief with their own artistic interpretation of the theme through its art, music and storytelling, which were also their first commercial tittle and currently under development. Pekru, while mentioning about huge potential in gaming industry, stated that there were many new game development companies budding in India, focusing mostly on the mobile space, but they dare to go against that trend and focus on the PC market.

He added that, at present RDG were very much of an indie studio with comparably smaller budgets, but expressed hope to see huge potential growth in future. The other teams nominated to top five were Dream game studios (A dream11 company), imissmyfriends.studio, Xigma games and SuperGaming.
