Naga Hoho slams AR for Nov.15 killings

Naga Hoho through its secretary (Adm) Chitho Nyusou, condemned the actions of 15 Assam Rifles on November 15,2015 at Leangkonger village, Tuensang district where four GPRN/NSCN cadres were “brutally killed.
Naga Hoho said the “so-called accidental encounter” as claimed by the Assam Rifles, was a violation of the Cease Fire Ground Rules which led to the loss of four precious Naga lives and that the loss would not be applauded nor saluted by the Nagas.
Naga Hoho reiterated, that Nagas want peace and it was about time that Assam Rifles displayed “maturity while dealing with Nagas”. Further, it asked if Assam Rifles was ever ready to deal with the bullet, in all matters relating with violation of the Cease Fire Ground Rules?
The Hoho said the version of the Assam Rifles, that its jawans were fired upon, while patrolling and that in self defence mode, resulted in the deaths of Nagas, was not new to Nagas.
It said that the Naga people expected maximum restraint from any of the armed groups or the Indian security forces against confrontation, even in matters of violations. Naga Hoho said Naga people have been observing, that the actions of Assam Rifles in Nagaland, was no better than a terrorist group as the AR’s action towards Nagas since the beginning till today was victimisation of innocent people.
Naga Hoho expressed grief and sorrow over the deaths and offered its deepest condolences to the family members of the “slain cadres” and prayed that God grant them solace.
ON CAUTION TO MEDIA
Naga Hoho said that while the entire civilised society across nations were against the AFSPA 1958, the notification issued by the Colonel of the General Staff of Assam Rifles on October 25, 2015 directing  editors of newspapers, not to publish press statements of the banned NSCN(K) by invoking provisions of Unlawful Activities(Prevention)Act 1967, had surprised Naga people.
It said the determination of the Assam Rifles, even to do away with the fundamental rights as enshrined in the constitution of India spoke volumes. Naga Hoho therefore, expressed vehement condemnation of the Assam Rifles in trying to curb freedom of expression and to suppress the fourth estate of the society.
