Dr. Ethungshan Shitiri, , a resident of Dimapur has been awarded the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship from the European Commission with a grant seed of €165,000 for two years. This grant will fund Dr. Shitiri as the principal investigator for the innovative BeNiFIt Project.
Prior to the announcement, Dr. Shitiri has worked on over 25 scientific publications and has co-authored a book chapter.
His work focuses on energy-efficient protocols, resource management, and nanonetworks, whose research collaborations extend to notable institutions like LUT Sweden, Boğaziçi University Turkey, IIT-Patna, NTNU Norway, and IBEC Spain. He received his Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering in 2018 from Kyungpook National University (KNU) in South Korea, and has been with N3Cat since 2003.
The BeNiFIt Project pioneers intra-body nanoscale communications (IBNC) to revolutionize healthcare, detecting disease biomarkers with nanomachines in the bloodstream.
Led by Dr. Shitiri, it aims to reduce diagnosis time from 10,000 hours to 10 minutes, transforming ways I in which chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s are detected. Dr. Shitiri would design wireless protocols for real-time data transmission to wearable devices and the internet, while mentoring students and disseminating findings through publications and conferences.
