
Mumbai-based Filmmaker and social worker, Rebecca Changkija Sema, from Nagaland, was awarded the “100 Successful Women in Business Conference and Awards” 2021 by Global Trade Chambers, Florida (USA) at its annual convention held virtually from March 26 to 28.
An advisory panel member of Central Board of Film Certification Mumbai and proprietor of Mumbai-based Find Studioz Production, Changkija is promoting tourism and artistes from the North Eastern region, including Nagaland, through cinema.
She is also the founder of “Northeast Unsung Heroes Social Awards”, which honour unsung heroes of the region for their contribution towards society, and chairperson of Ladies of All Nations International (Nagaland), a community-interest organisation that operates in more than 85 countries, supporting survivors, uplifting less privileged and celebrating those who had overcame circumstances like cancer and armed conflicts and brings women from all walks of life together.
The event was broadcast live across the US and in many other nations, commemorating International Women’s Month. More than 70 countries took part in the awards ceremony, to recognise the 100 successful women around the world who made an impact in their communities through social and various humanitarian works.
Asked how she felt winning the award, Changkija said the award will serve to encourage her to work more for the betterment of society and also to put Nagaland on the international map.
She said her team from Mumbai had been organising workshops in Nagaland and providing a platform for local youth to perform in national events. She expressed the hope that Naga Hindi singer NK Naga, who recently received various awards and recorded five songs for Bollywood movies, could serve as an example to encourage Naga youth to perform at the national level.
Apart from being one of the recipients for the “100 Successful women in Business Conference & Awards 2021– USA”, Rebecca has also won multiple awards like the “International Humanitarian Award 2020- United Kingdom”; “Mahatma Gandhi National Award 2020, Delhi”; “First Female Bollywood Producer from Nagaland, Northeast India for promoting Northeast region/local talents in Bollywood” etc.
