In a moment of pride for Nagaland and the nation, two outstanding martial artists from the state Kitenlo K. Thono and Hinokali have secured medals at the 9th Asian Pencak Silat Championship 2025, held in Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam, from July 23 to 31.
Representing India in the international Championship under Indian Pencak Silat Federation for the first time from Nagaland, Kitenlo K. Thono secured the silver medal in the 90-95 kg weight category in Tanding Event (match) after an intense final bout against Singapore and Hinokali earned the bronze Medal under 45 kg weight category in the Tanding Event (Match) in her hard-fought semi-final match against Singapore.
Both athletes trained extensive preparation at the Faith in Action Martial Arts Academy at Signal Basti, Dimapur which played a vital role in their international success in raising the standards of Pencak Silat in the Northeast and the potential of Nagaland youths on the global stage.
Both medal-winning athletes are scheduled to arrive at Dimapur airport on August 1 at 10:40 am, where they will be welcomed and felicitated by Nagaland Pencak Silat Association’s officials, friends, families and supporters.
