Tongmeth accuses Central agencies of unethical conduct
NSCN (I-M) vice-president Tongmeth Wangnao has accused the central government agencies of unethical conduct. In his speech on the occasion of the 46th Raising Day, Wangnao alleged that though the NSCN (I-M) had been talking with the Centre for the past more than 27 years on the strength of truth behind the Naga political movement, the central government agencies had indulged themselves in unethical conduct to create many enemies behind the Naga political talks.
He called for remaining alert and vigilant, put on the whole armour of God, and stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. He emphasised that it was the bounden duty of the Nagas to defend their country, people and their legitimate right for self-determination to define their political identity as a nation.
He called for continuing to pursue for the solution that should be acceptable and honourable in consonance with legitimate rights as testified before the central government — the uniqueness of Naga history and the Framework Agreement that followed. As the fate of the Indo-Naga political talks was in the hands of God, Wangnao called for giving a new meaning to the divine connection under the banner “Nagalim for Christ”.
He appealed for striving to do the best with integrity and thanks giving to God, acknowledging His power and will.
Neokpao calls for consensus despite ideological differences
GPRN/NSCN (U) president ‘gen.’ (Retd) MB Neokpao Konyak has called upon the Nagas to forge a consensus despite ideological differences.
In his speech on the NSCN Raising Day, Neokpao Konyak noted that there was a clear understanding and desire on the part of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) to seek a political future with the central government, which was honorable and acceptable.
He said the Working Committee (WC) in close cooperation with Naga tribes and apex civil society bodies would insist on an honest dialogue, integrity, transparency at all times, stressing that this was the only accepted process available before the people.
He claimed that during political negotiations with the central government, the WC, NNPGs had clearly defined what was possible and what was not.
Though the confidence and trust of Naga people upon the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were fast eroding, he said all hope was not lost yet.
Konyak mentioned that the GPRN/NSCN was partnering the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups, and had negotiated with the central government without compromising on the core values of history and political rights. He said the spirit of 1951 plebiscite guided the present political negotiations between the central government and WC.
