The Naga Students Union Mizoram (NSUM) held its annual 25th “fresher’s meet-cum-cultural day” on October 24 at the Chanmari Young Mizo Association Hall Aizawl, Mizoram with the theme “Striving towards greater unity with Cultural Integrity.”
The event was organised by the Naga Student Union Mizoram (NSUM) with Director of Arts and Culture Department, Government of Mizoram, Pi Carol VLMS Dawngkimi, as the special guest and Mmhonlumo Kikon as the theme speaker.
KH Lawrence from Mizoram University and Adeno Kikon from College of Horticulture were crowned as Mr and Miss Freshers 2023 respectively.
Pi Carol VLMS emphasized on “Cultural Unity” without any discrimination against any background and inspired the Naga youths to live a life of integrity.
The theme speaker, Mmhonlumo Kikon shared about the devotional culture of the people of Mizoram and encouraged the students to inculcate while on their journey in Mizoram. The significance of remembering one’s roots and maintaining ties to the Naga Community in Mizoram was further emphasised by advisor, Naga Student Union Mizoram, Raingam Shokwungnao.
The programme was followed by a vibrant show of cultural performances by students of RIPANS, College of Horticulture, College of Veterinary Science and Animal husbandry, Mizoram University, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology.
