Naga woman bags iLRN award

Bendangtoshi Tiajungla Dominica Jamir from Dimapur, currently in New York City, bagged the ‘best practitioner poster proposal’ award by the Immersive Learning Research Network (iLRN) at the iLRN2020 Conference. iLRN is an international organization of developers, educators, and research professionals collaborating to develop the scientific, technical, and applied potential of immersive learning.

Tiajungla, currently in New York City is pursuing her Master’s degree in User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Design and Development from the prestigious New York Institute of Technology (NYIT).

Tiajungla chose Virtual Reality (VR) as the core and foundation of her master’s thesis ‘Intellect VR: Learning in VR; the VR Experience in the Classroom’, a platform that enhances teaching and learning through VR-immersive, activity-based experiences.

Her works/articles have also been featured in various renowned Tech magazines. Her VR journey began with an in-house NYIT thesis project to ideate, then create the prototypes in a VR environment for enhanced and immersive learning experiences; complete with unique, student-friendly interfaces, gesture controls, embedded educational resources and simple-to-use teacher controls.

Tiajungla said her primary goal is to improve and adapt the VR-immersive learning tool for easy access to students with different abilities and learning styles to use and gain a better understanding and retention of study matter.

VR-enhanced learning can be a blessing to reduce possible strain from current pandemic-related, socially distant education. It is only a matter of time before the burgeoning use of this relatively new technology becomes mainstream in everyday life, she added.
