Nagaland: 15th Chizami Women’s Day observed at Chizami Village

DIMAPUR

The 15th Chizami Women’s Day (Nitsümi Zah Mehpu), organized under the aegis of Chizami Women Society (CWS), was observed on December 20 at Theza, Chizami Village in Phek district.
Speaking at the event, Zhonelu Tunyi, president of Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA), described women’s gatherings as powerful platforms that bring meaningful change and create positive impact in society. She acknowledged the vital role of men as the backbone of women’s success and shared her message with three key points, emphasizing love, respect, and responsibility as the foundation of a healthy society.
Tunyi reflected on the biblical account of woman being created from the rib of man, symbolizing love, care, and companionship. She underscored the importance of proper guardianship for children sent outside for studies or work, likening parental care to nurturing crops that require consistent attention. She also spoke on the benefits and drawbacks of mobile phone usage, urged parents to not impose personal expectations on children, and highlighted mothers as invaluable blessings.
Encouraging women to extend motherly love to all children without discrimination, she called for prayer, positivity, and exemplary living for community growth.
Drawing inspiration from Queen Esther, she urged women to live with faith, strength, and purpose, citing Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Delivering a word of encouragement, Kewepelo Tsuhah, chairman of Chizami Village Council, affirmed women as a precious gift from God. Drawing from the lives of Elizabeth and Abigail, he emphasized women’s role as caretakers, nation builders, and peacemakers, with the ability to heal and restore broken relationships.
Earlier, Kezunyipe-u Tsuhah, chairperson of Chizami Women Society, in her welcome address expressed gratitude to participants and leaders for their active involvement and support. She stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration, unity, and shared responsibility to further the collective vision of progress.
The programme was led by Welou Chirhah, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Welhizou Wetsah, vice chairperson of CWS.
