Nagaland: 2 charred to death after coal-laden truck overturns

Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, FEB 13 (NPN)

In a tragic incident, two persons were charred to death when a coal-laden truck overturned and burst into flames at Lotovi village under Kuhuboto in Niuland district Thursday night.
According to fire and emergency services officials, the incident occurred at around 11:55 p.m. They informed that three fire engines from central fire station Dimapur were dispatched to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control. Dimapur police PRO confirmed that the victims—identified as the driver and handyman of the truck—were brothers.
PRO stated that the truck overturned on its own, and the two occupants were trapped inside the vehicle when it caught fire, leaving them with no chance to escape.
The bodies have since been recovered and shifted to the District Hospital for post-mortem examination. An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
