The 3rd Patkai Trophy 2025, hosted by Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), concluded on a high note on October 31 following three days of spirited competition across football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and tug of war. Held under the theme “Celebrating Talents,” the tournament witnessed participation from 23 institutions across Nagaland and one from Assam.
The final day featured title clashes marked by intensity and sportsmanship. In women’s volleyball, Don Bosco College Kohima (DBCK) defeated Dimapur Government College (DGC) 3–1, with Nilivi Achumi (DBCK) named MVP. In the men’s volleyball final, St. Joseph University (SJU) Team A overcame Team B 3–1, with Vede Koza (SJU A) adjudged MVP.
SJU continued its winning streak in women’s basketball, defeating Tetso College 31–23. In the men’s final, School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Nagaland University, outplayed Tetso College 56–40.
MVP titles went to Nanglem Konyak (SJU) and Kezevituo Angami (SAS) in the women’s and men’s categories respectively. Tetso College found redemption in football, edging past St. Xavier College, Jalukie 2–1 in a tense men’s final. Kirangdibe (Tetso) won the Golden Glove, while Icuilungbe (St. Xavier) and Viketo (SJU B) received the Golden Ball and Golden Boot respectively.
Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) emerged unbeaten in men’s Tug of War, overpowering SJU in a crowd-backed final.
In badminton, Iciheile Hieme (PCC) clinched the women’s singles title, while Bovi K. Chishi (Tetso) won the men’s singles.
Tetso College dominated doubles events, with Y. Theila Phom and Peheiguile Ilunglung winning the women’s doubles, and Bovi K. Chishi and Masenwangbo Pamai securing the men’s doubles title.
The closing ceremony was graced by Lhousito Khro, chairman, Chümoukedima Town Council, and Patkai alumnus, as guest of honour. Khro commended the scale and quality of the event, urging participants to return stronger next season and highlighting the role of sports in holistic development.
The tournament was inaugurated on October 29 by Tongpang Ozukum, advisor, Department of Water Resources, Government of Nagaland.
