DIMAPUR, NOV 23 (NPN)

The ongoing 3rd edition of the Senior’s Masters League (SML) witnessed thrilling encounters over the weekend, with standout performances shaping the outcomes across fixtures.
In the November 22 clash, Lhomithi SC overcame Chumou Veterans in a low-scoring contest. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Lhomithi posted 128/9 in 20 overs, anchored by Hino Chishi (41 off 31 balls) and Toni Achumi (31 off 26 balls). Chumou Veterans faltered in their chase, managing only 90 all out, with Alongba (20 off 33 balls) offering the lone resistance. The highlight of the match was Sudama’s devastating spell of 5 wickets for 17 runs, which dismantled the opposition and earned him the Man of the Match award.
On Sunday, Kohima Legends delivered a commanding performance against Kohima Old Boys. Batting first, the Legends piled up 186/4 in 20 overs, powered by Viketho’s fluent 75 off 54 balls and Tapito Thupito’s quickfire 46 off 25 balls. In reply, Kohima Old Boys struggled to keep pace, finishing at 117/7 in 20 overs, handing the Legends a comprehensive victory. Viketho’s match-defining knock secured him the Man of the Match honor.
In another fixture, Nzon CC posted 124 all out in 20 overs, largely built around Samuel Shohe’s valiant 61 off 52 balls. However, Essa Warriors chased down the target with ease, reaching 125/5 in just 14 overs, thanks to key contributions from Pankaj Ghosh, Raza Baruah, and Alongba Pongen. Despite ending on the losing side, Samuel Shohe’s fighting innings earned him the Man of the Match recognition.
