The 3rd Interschool Wokha District Sepaktakraw tournament, organised by the Wokha District Sepaktakraw Association (WDSA-Sepak), concluded on November 12 at public ground, Wokha, with Chief Team Metamorphosis and honorary member of WDSA-Sepak, Dr. Thungdemo Kyong, gracing the occasion as guest of honour.
In senior boys, SMBHS emerged as the champions while Mt. Carmel School was the runners-up. In the senior girls, Mt. Carmel School clinched the champions title while Cistus School Wokha bagged the runners-up position.
In junior boys (U-14), Regimental School Wokha was the champion and Mt. Sinai School Wokha was the runners-up. In the junior girls (U-14), Regimental School Wokha bagged the champions title while GMS Sector D came runners-up. The Best Discipline Award was adjudged to GMS Sector D.
Delivering the culmination and prize distribution address, Dr. Kyong lauded WDSA-Sepak for successfully organising the tournament and commended the enthusiastic participation of schools and students. He urged young players to become ambassadors of Sepaktakraw, describing it as a sport of agility that minimises injuries compared to other games. Encouraging students to pursue sports alongside academics, he reminded them that dedication, determination, patience and focus are essential qualities of sportsmanship, cautioning that short temper and anger can ruin both strategy and performance.
President of Wokha District Sports Association (WDSA), Yanrenthung Humtsoe, in his greeting, congratulated WDSA-Sepak for the successful conduct of the tournament. He acknowledged the active participation of schools and students as a sign of progress and urged them to uphold discipline, commitment, confidence, and integrity both on and off the field. He assured that WDSA would continue to support the association and students in promoting sports in the district.
The programme was chaired by assistant teacher of Mt. Sinai School Wokha, Noyingbeni Ngullie. Vote of thanks was delivered by media and information secretary of WDSA-Sepak, Abenthung Kikon, while benediction was pronounced by coordinator of Cistus School Wokha, B. Wonjano Ngullie.
