Nagaland: 42nd annual sports meet of CYO inaugurated at Chüziema

Dimapur, Dec 27 (NPN)

The 42nd Annual Sports Meet of Chüziema Youth Organisation (CYO) was inaugurated on December 27 at the Chüziema village locality ground.
Vizovor Liezietsu, president, Football Licence Coaches, Kohima District and former international footballer, who graced the event, congratulated the CYO for successfully sustaining the annual sports meet for over four decades. He described the event as a reflection of strong leadership, vision and commitment to youth development.
He emphasised that sports today is not merely a pastime but a viable profession, offering opportunities for recognition, employment and financial stability.
However, he cautioned that success in sports demands discipline, consistency, hard work and sacrifice, with no shortcuts to excellence. He urged young athletes to adopt determination and commitment as guiding principles while remaining rooted in faith and moral values.
The programme was chaired by Ruovisielie Theunuo, advisor, CYO, invocation by Zeneilie Zatsu, senior pastor, Chüziema Baptist Church, while the welcome address was delivered by Neipfhelie Zatsu, president, CYO.
A special number was presented by Vikehielie Pienyü, followed by presentations, and the oath-taking ceremony for players was administered by Neivilhoulie Pienyü, wrestling secretary, CYO.
The CYO annual sports meet will conclude on December 30, with Viletuo Pienyü, chairman, Thizama Village Council, scheduled to grace the closing ceremony as guest of honour.
