The Airport Advisory Committee, chaired by S. Supongmeren Jamir, Lok Sabha MP held a consultative meeting on October 31, 2025, to discuss key improvements at the airport aimed at enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency.
According to media secretary to the MP, the meeting focused on making the airport more user-friendly, emphasizing better management, cleanliness of the airport and its surroundings, transport and cab services, and streamlined parking arrangements.
A pressing issue addressed was the problem of waste dumping near the airport. The committee resolved to collaborate with the Administration, Police, Ward Authorities, and Village Council to take prompt action to curb this concern. There was also a call to increase the number of gift shops showcasing Naga Indigenous products and to incorporate traditional motifs in the airport’s interior decoration to reflect local culture.
Further discussions covered land requisition for airport expansion, proper drainage systems, and uninterrupted water and electricity supply.
The committee also recommended the installation of a medical team and ambulance for emergencies, urging the Government of Nagaland’s relevant departments to act on this.
The reintroduction of the regional connectivity scheme was unanimously supported, advocating for the small aircraft services connecting Imphal, Dimapur, Guwahati, and nearby areas, with a request for state government intervention to facilitate this. Additionally, the committee raised concerns about waterlogging and flooding on the runway, which have caused flight delays and cancellations. They praised the Water Resources Department for efforts to address these challenges.
The committee commended the efforts of the Director of the Airport Authority Dimapur and his team for their dedication to the airport’s development and pledged full cooperation to ensure smooth progress in ongoing projects.
