Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Aboi area have strongly objected to what they described as “selective survey” of NH-702 (Mon-Aboi-Longleng road) and demanded for survey of option-2 and option-3 alignments.
Konyak Union (KU) Aboi unit through its media cell expressed resentment over the surveying activities conducted on November 4, 2025 for the proposed National Highway-702 (Mon-Aboi-Longleng road) alignment.
The Aboi CSOs claimed that the survey team carried out surveying exclusively for option-1 alignment, while option-2 and option-3 were completely ignored.
They said option-2 and option-3 have been the “clear and longstanding preferences” of more than one hundred villages and major towns across Mon district.
CSOs said that such selective action raised serious doubts regarding the transparency, fairness, and credibility of the entire process.
They cautioned that “unwarranted deviation” from the agreed alignment has caused serious public discontent within Aboi area.
CSOs said that disregarding collective agreements not only undermined the democratic process but also risked generating public unrest and division among the Konyak community.
Therefore, CSOs said that people of Aboi area have “unanimously” resolved to oppose any attempt to alter or reverse NH-702 alignment from the earlier-agreed option-03.
“Should this injustice persist, the public will be compelled to initiate non-cooperation and possible economic blockade along the existing route as a mark of protest,” CSOs warned.
Therefore, the CSOs have appealed to the deputy chief minister and minister in-charge NH to immediately direct the concerned department and survey team to conduct surveys for option-2 and option-3 within seven days.
They urged the deputy chief minister to ensure that the final alignment decision strictly adhered to the official resolutions taken in earlier meetings.
