Nagaland: Above 35 League kicks off 10th season

The Above Thirtyfive League (ATL) marked the beginning of its 10th season at the Chümoukedima Police Grounds with an opening programme attended by players, officials and supporters. Eight teams will compete over the next 14 weeks for the coveted championship title.
The season kicked off with thrilling encounters across multiple venues. At DGP Ground, defending champions Nizams FC edged past newcomers Nova Old Stars with a hard-fought 3–2 victory.
At 1st NAP Ground, Aben of Strikers Club stole the spotlight, scoring six goals to lead his side to a commanding 7–2 win over Old Boys.
In the second fixture at the same venue, Super Strikers defeated Nizams Legends 1–0, courtesy of a swift counter-attack finished by Temjen.
Trinity Sporting secured a win against Natak FC, with Toshi netting a brace to seal the result.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by chairman of the Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation, Kvulo Lorin, who emphasized the importance of fitness and the league’s role in fostering camaraderie and keeping the love for football alive. Lorin, himself a former ATL player, reflected on the league’s journey and its growing significance in the community.
The programme, led by Lanusubu, began with a prayer by Thepfulhouvi (Asa). Convenor ATL, Nchum, delivered the welcome address, introducing the new entrant Nova Old Stars and extending greetings to returning teams. Advisor ATL, Rovikotuo, highlighted the league’s beginnings and its steady growth, while Himato concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
