Reacting to the formation of District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) for IIC/PRC under RIIN with the four Indigenous Minority tribes, the Association of Indigenous Minority Tribes of Nagaland (AIMTN) representing Kuki, Kachari, Garo and Mikir (Karbi) has decided not to participate in any of the DLCC for IIC/PRC until the state government provided an acceptable reply to the representation submitted to the chief secretary on September 24, 2024 on the matter.
AIMTN through its media cell expressed shock at the lackadaisical attitude of the state government towards the four Indigenous minority tribes of Nagaland.
The association stated that even after submitting a representation to the chief secretary on September 24 and subsequent press statement on September 29, there had been no response till date.
It said that the silence of the state government on its representation was “taken as a stepmotherly treatment towards the four Indigenous tribes of Nagaland.”
On September 29, AIMTN had expressed concern with the State government’s decision to issue a separate enumeration order dated September 20, 2024 targeting four specific tribes. AIMTN said singling them in this manner made it seem like discrimination and a violation of their fundamental rights.
