Nagaland: Air Force chief graces day 9 of Hornbill Festival

DIMAPUR, DEC 9 (NPN)

Day nine of the Hornbill Festival 2025 drew large crowds as the cultural show took centre stage at Unity Plaza, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on Tuesday.
The programme was hosted by minister for Housing & Mechanical Engineering P. Bashangmongba Chang, with advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Zhaleo Rio, as co-host. Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh and Subhash Chandra Mynam, Territory Manager (Retail), BPCL Shillong, graced the event as special guests.
The Air Force chief also visited the Kenguruse Pavillion at Kisama Heritage Village.
Cultural troupes from across Nagaland presented folk dances, work songs, and traditional games reflecting the state’s diverse heritage.
Performances included: Phom- Kongshou Hokpo (warrior dance); Pochury- Hi-Lo Lokhro Rie (folk narrative); Sangtam- Fürü Thsüh Khidong (harvest song); Rengma- Pen Kethü (rice-pounding song); Sumi- Aghacho Le (Great Hornbill song); Ao- Nokjenjentepba (Dao sharpness contest); Tikhir- Tsin Tsüyok (feast dance).
Angami cultural troupe presented Kere Phita (bamboo-stilt walking); Kachari- Dhal Thungri Sibnai (women’s courage); Chang- Laakbüei Khük Büpbü (headhunter tattoos); Garo- Rugala Chroka (harvest ritual); Khiamniungan-Hoi-e Tsui (post-harvest song); Zeliang-Kamaguh-bu (war/hunt performance); Yimkhiung-Wochak Khün (ploughing song); Konyak-Rangme Ashoa-Bih (bamboo-pushing game); Kuki-Suhta Lam (bamboo-pole dance); Chakhesang-Rütse Li (post-harvest song); and Lotha-Ejan Sharü (victory dance).
