AKMWC has issued an appeal to the residents across Nagaland to revive the tradition of erecting Christmas Stars from December 1, 2025 to January 1, 2026, as a collective expression of faith and unity.
In a statement issued by AKMWC president Thejao Sekhose and general secretary Hukato Chishi, stated that the Christmas season in Nagaland has long been marked by the luminous presence of Christmas Stars adorning homes, establishments, and localities. These radiant symbols, once central to the festive landscape, have gradually faded amidst the rise of modern decorations.
Describing the Christmas Star as the “heart of our Christmas testimony,” the AKMWC urged every household to participate in restoring this meaningful tradition. “Let Kohima shine with meaning, not just lights. Let Nagaland glow with faith, not just festivity,” the statement read.
To facilitate the initiative, AKMWC called upon Colony Councils, Churches, and local authorities to encourage members to erect Christmas Stars as a shared act of devotion. Youth organisations have been urged to craft quality stars and make them available at affordable rates, while cheerful donors and well-wishers are encouraged to gift stars to families in need.
