Angami Krotho Delhi (AKD) celebrated 37th Sekrenyi Festival on February 28 at Nagaland House, APJ Abdul Kalam Road, New Delhi. The celebration was attended by over 350 people.
In a press release by ASUD president, Noune Miachieo stated that alongside the festival, AKD hosted its 5th Open Kene (Traditional Naga Wrestling). Participants from the Angami, Chakhesang, and Poumai tribes showcased spirited competition and mutual respect. The prizes were sponsored by Angami Sports Association and Dzükou Valley Management.
A Veytelou from the Poumai tribe came out as the champion while Sheluhu Khesoh and Shedekho Hoshi from the Chakhesang tribe bagged the second and third prize respectively, followed by Vishezotuo Yano from the Angami tribe won the fourth prize.
Prizes were sponsored by the Angami Sports Association and Dzükou Valley Management, with additional contributions of Rs. 5,000 each from Dr. Hentok Phom and Er. Hutovi to encourage the wrestlers.
The formal programme began with an invocation by NCF Delhi, Rev. Dr. Noulezhalie Ricky Medom, welcome address by AKD president Pelhu Dolie. Musical performances by AKD seniors, elders, executives, and guest artists including Denoto John & company. The exhortation was delivered by Upper Naga Bazaar Baptist Church, Kohima, pastor Ruokuowhelie Pienyü and the vote of thanks by general secretary Neingumezo Khrodi.
