Ao Senden has urged the state government to strictly enforce Registration of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) with as December 1, 1963 as cut-off date for the non-indigenous people in order to safeguard the interest and indigenousness of the Tribals of Nagaland State.
Ao Senden through its president Marsanen Imsong and general secretary Imtipokyim said that in the matter of RIIN, so long as the State of Nagaland was protected by Article 371A of the Constitution of India, the indigenous Tribals within the State needed to be protected in the matters of land holdings and ownerships, education, employments and businesses etc.
Therefore, Ao Senden welcomed the step taken by the State Government for effective implementation of RIIN. However, in the matter of inner line permit for the districts of Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland, Ao Senden requested the state government to do a rethink and revisit the decision of having two cut-off years—December 1, 1963 and November 21, 1979—for issuing the ILP.
It said that the purpose of ILP was to safeguard the interest of the indigenous tribals of Nagaland from the influx of outsiders. Therefore, Ao Senden said the cut-off year December 1, 1963 should be applied.
