Nagaland AR conduct unity marches, cleanliness drive

DIMAPUR

Assam Rifles, in collaboration with district administrations and local communities, organised a series of events across Nagaland to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and promote civic responsibility under the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign.
In Mokokchung, a Unity Walk (Padyatra) was held on November 6 in partnership with the district administration. The walk commenced from Town Hall and culminated at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, drawing over 1200 participants including Assam Rifles troops, Nagaland Police, CRPF personnel, district officials, civil society members, and students. The event celebrated the legacy of Sardar Patel and concluded with a pledge to uphold unity and integrity as pillars of national strength.
Similarly, Shamator Battalion organised a Unity March in collaboration with the State Government, echoing the message of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.” The programme featured traditional cultural performances, a Pipe Band display by Assam Rifles, and the rendition of the Rashtriya Gaan. The Chief Guest highlighted the role of Assam Rifles in fostering peace and development, and the enduring relevance of Sardar Patel’s vision.
In a separate initiative, Assam Rifles conducted a cleanliness drive at Akhegwo village, Meluri district on November 3 under the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign. The drive, part of the nationwide Clean India Movement, saw active participation from both Assam Rifles personnel and local residents. Public areas and community spaces were cleaned, and awareness was raised on hygiene, waste management, and sustainable living.
