Assam Rifles carried out a series of activities across Nagaland, highlighting its commitment to community welfare, veteran engagement, and social awareness.

Army day celebrations with ex-servicemen
Assam Rifles marked Army Day in Kohima with a special interaction programme for Ex-Servicemen of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles. The event aimed to honor the dedication, sacrifices, and service of veterans. A screening of an Army Day special video showcased the achievements and history of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, evoking pride and nostalgia among the veterans. The celebration also included a luncheon, facilitating informal interactions between serving personnel and veterans. Group photographs were taken to commemorate the occasion. Ex-Servicemen expressed gratitude for the initiative, appreciating Assam Rifles’ continued efforts to maintain close ties with its veteran community.

Medical camps at Tsuruhu and Kanjang Village
As part of its ongoing community outreach, Assam Rifles organized medical camps in Tsuruhu village (Zunheboto district) and Kanjang village (Meluri district) to provide basic healthcare services in remote areas. At Tsuruhu, 80 residents—including 30 women, 28 men, and 22 children—received general health check-ups and essential medicines. The Kanjang camp served 210 individuals, addressing common ailments such as fever, cough, and skin conditions. In addition, awareness sessions were conducted on hygiene, sanitation, early disease detection, and preventive measures against vector-borne diseases, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS. These camps reflect Assam Rifles’ commitment to improving health services and fostering goodwill with local communities.

Awareness session on POCSO Act 2012
Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, at ARPS Phek for students and parents. The session educated participants on children’s legal rights, early reporting of offences, and available support systems for victims. A total of 42 participants attended, receiving guidance on being vigilant, responsible, and proactive in safeguarding children.
