Assam Rifles undertook a series of initiatives reflecting its commitment to national integration, community welfare and educational excellence.
National Integration Tour (NIT): The NIT team from Noklak, en route to Jorhat, Delhi and Agra, reached the national capital and visited prominent historical and cultural landmarks including the Red Fort, India Gate, National War Memorial and Nagaland House.
Comprising 20 civilians along with troops, the tour was organised to provide participants an opportunity to experience India’s rich heritage, national pride and cultural diversity.
At the Red Fort, the team gained insights into its historical significance and role in India’s freedom struggle.
The visit to India Gate and the National War Memorial instilled a deep sense of respect and patriotism as participants paid homage to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in service of the nation. The stop at Nagaland House offered a glimpse into the cultural identity, traditions and administrative presence of Nagaland in the national capital.
Officials stated that such initiatives foster meaningful interaction between civilians and troops, broaden perspectives, enhance awareness of the nation’s heritage and reinforce unity in diversity.
The tour reflected Assam Rifles’ commitment to promoting national integration and cultural understanding under the ongoing programme.
World Cancer Day Observance: Assam Rifles also conducted awareness activities for locals and its personnel in Kiphire, Aboi, Noklak and Mon districts to mark World Cancer Day under the theme “United by Unique”.
The campaign aimed to spread awareness on cancer, its early warning signs and preventive measures, particularly in remote areas with limited healthcare access. Lectures emphasised the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, routine medical examinations and early identification to improve survival rates and treatment outcomes.
Myths and misconceptions surrounding cancer were clarified, encouraging individuals to seek timely medical guidance.
As part of the outreach, AR personnel carried out a door-to-door awareness drive, distributing informative leaflets on common types of cancer, risk factors, early symptoms and prevention. Interactions with villagers were also held to address queries and promote healthy practices.
Officials noted that the initiative reflected Assam Rifles’ strong commitment to community welfare and civil–military cooperation in the region.
