Nagaland Archery Association hosts Khelo India – NTPC City Open Tourney

DIMAPUR, MAR 16 (NPN):

The Nagaland Archery Association (NAA) organized the Khelo India – NTPC City Open Archery Tournament at the Archery Ground, Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS), Kohima, bringing together 64 archers from across the state to compete in multiple categories.
The event began with an opening ceremony chaired by secretary of NAA, Asalie Peseyie. The programme included a prayer led by Vesuzolu Swuro and a POSH and POCSO awareness session delivered by advocate and member of the Nagaland State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Akumla Longchari, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding children in sports.
In her presidential address, president of NAA, Chekrovolu Swuro, highlighted the cultural significance of archery in Nagaland and encouraged young athletes to aim for excellence at national and international levels.
The tournament featured competitions in Compound, Recurve, and Indian Round categories for both men and women. After a day of spirited contests, the medal ceremony was announced by joint secretary of NAA, Kaiyong, while treasurer of NAA, Pretso Therie, delivered the vote of thanks.
The Nagaland Archery Association congratulated all winners and participants for their outstanding performances and sportsmanship.
