Assam Rifles organised a pre–New Year celebration with Gaon Buras of villages near IG Stadium, Kohima, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen community relations and promote goodwill.
The event was held in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting unity, mutual respect and cooperation. Senior officers of Assam Rifles interacted with the Gaon Buras, exchanged greetings and acknowledged their vital role in maintaining social harmony and local governance. The Force reiterated its commitment to work closely with the local population and support community welfare initiatives.
The GBs expressed appreciation for the efforts of Assam Rifles in maintaining security and extending assistance to civilians during times of need.
Meanwhile, in a significant step towards improving basic infrastructure, Assam Rifles constructed a 25,000-litre capacity water storage tank at Mitelephe village, Kohima district, under Operation Sadbhavana for the financial year 2025–26. The project aims to address persistent water scarcity faced by villagers, particularly during dry seasons, and ensure adequate availability of safe drinking water for daily use.
Villagers conveyed gratitude to Assam Rifles for the timely intervention, which is expected to improve health and hygiene standards.
Assam Rifles also organised a community outreach programme titled “A Day with Company Commander” at Wakching, Mon district, under the theme “Christmas Celebrations.”
The event brought together teachers, staff members, local representatives, students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India), Mon, and youth from Wakching village. Aimed at fostering community engagement and inspiring young minds, the programme commenced with a Christmas cake-cutting ceremony and an address highlighting the spirit of Christmas.
The Company Commander interacted with students and youth, extending festive greetings and New Year wishes. Cultural performances including traditional Konyak tribal dances, carol singing and other presentations showcased local talent. A high tea session and lunch reflected Nagaland’s rich traditions, followed by interactive exchanges between students and Assam Rifles personnel.
Participants were also taken on a tour of the Company Operating Base, gaining firsthand exposure to the operational environment of the force. Lecture on career opportunities in the Armed Forces, covering entry schemes such as Agniveer and Short Service Commission, was delivered, followed by the screening of a motivational film instilling patriotism and discipline.
