The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has declared one Md. Ali Hussain and his family as persona non grata within Angami jurisdiction, directing them to vacate the area within seven days with effect from February 6, 2026.
In a statement, ASU president Diezevisie Nakhro and general secretary Rajuselie Chucha said the decision was taken in fulfilment of its mandate to protect the communal integrity and security of ancestral land. The union stated that following an investigation, it found the individual engaged in activities detrimental to the peace and wellbeing of the community.
ASU alleged that he had been actively assisting and facilitating the entry of undocumented individuals into the area, which it said threatened communal security and demographic integrity. It further alleged that he owned and operated a commercial vehicle under the registration and name of a Naga individual, thereby willfully exploiting local tribal protections and economic privileges intended exclusively for the community.
The union also accused him of attempting to lure and manipulate local citizens to provide false testimonies in his favor and furnishing blatant falsehood before the union authorities, showing total lack of integrity. It further stated that he ignored official summons and continued operating a barred vehicle in defiance of the union’s standing directive and utter contempt of the traditional institutions.
ASU advised the district administration not to grant or renew Inner Line Permits (ILP) for the individual, his family or related kin. It also called upon unions, village authorities and public to remain vigilant against misuse of local identities.
The union cautioned that any person found harbouring or aiding the individuals beyond the stipulated period would be doing so at their own risk and held accountable by the community. ASU reiterated its resolve to act with integrity and uphold the sanctity of the land.
