Nagaland Athletics congratulates Abu Metha

Nagaland Athletics congratulated Abu Metha, president of Nagaland Athletics and vice president of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), on his appointment as the Co-Chair of the Modernisation Committee of the Athletics Federation of India.
A press release by honorary secretary of Nagaland Athletics, Mhonsao Ngullie, stated that the Nagaland Athletics expressed their gratitude to the Athletics Federation of India, under the leadership of president Bahadur Singh Sagoo and the guidance of Dr. Lalit K. Bhanot, for the recognition and trust placed in Metha.
The release stated that the prestigious appointment is a testament to Metha’s unwavering dedication to sports administration, spanning over two decades following his active years as a national-level athlete. He has successfully completed certified courses in sports administration, event management, and safeguarding in sports under the aegis of World Athletics and the International Olympic Committee.
The release further stated that Metha has played a pioneering role in formulating and implementing key sports policies and strategies in Nagaland and the North Eastern region. He has been instrumental in organizing and hosting major regional, national, and international sports events, and continues to mentor athletes, administrators, and emerging leaders in the sports ecosystem.
His contributions at the national and international level include serving as team leader for India at the World U-20 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya, participating as a delegate at the Paris Olympic Games, and attending the World Mountain Running Congress in Thailand, the release added.
Nagaland Athletics conveyed its best wishes to Metha for a successful tenure and continued service to the cause of Indian sport and the nation.
