Nagaland: AVC, ALT flay firing, abduction at Aoyimkum

DIMAPUR, DEC 17 (NPN)

Aoyimkum Village Council (AVC) has strongly condemned the alleged indiscriminate firing and abduction of five persons by NSCN-K (Khango-Vusshe) on December 15 midnight from Aoyimkum village.
In a press release, AVC chairman Imchaniba and secretary Putunungsang Longkumer termed the incident as “a blatant display of disregard” for the law and “brazen violation” of the peaceful sanctity of the village, which they said was “utterly unforgivable and an insult to the peace-loving community of Aoyimkum village.”
Affirming its stand against such acts of intimidation and violence, AVC has urged upon the responsible authorities to take immediate, stringent, and punitive action against the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, the village council has expressed gratitude to the Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) and all supporting civil society organisations (CSOs) of Dimapur for their immediate, decisive, and mature intervention.

ALT: Aoyimkum Lanur Telongijem (Aoyimkum Youth Organisation) has also strongly condemned what it called “cowardice act” by NSCN-K (Khango-Vusshe) on December 15 midnight at a private
residence by firing several rounds and abducted two of its bona fide members.
In a press release, ALT condemned the “act of lawlessness and unwarranted intimidation” within the jurisdiction of Aoyimkum village.
The youth body cautioned that “such blatant circumstances” would not be accepted and pardoned if so arise within the village in future.
The organisation demanded the responsible authorities to urgently investigate the matter and arrest the perpetrators without any further delay.
