College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (CoVSc & AH), Jalukie, Peren, through its Department of Veterinary Medicine and Department of Veterinary Clinical Complex, jointly organised an awareness programme on “Tick-borne blood parasitic diseases in pet animals and livestock” on January 28.
The programme was organised for pet and livestock owners, with 30 farmers participating and benefitting from the training.
Programme coordinator, Professor and Head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and in-charge head of the Veterinary Clinical Complex, Dr. Gunjan Das highlighted the importance of such initiatives for pet and livestock owners and delivered a lecture on “Tick as vector and their control measures.” In-charge Dean, Dr. Palanisammi, spoke on the significance of blood parasitic diseases in companion and livestock animals. He pointed out the economic losses pet owners incur due to these deadly diseases transmitted by tick vectors and stressed the need for greater awareness.
Resource persons and assistant professors of VCC, Dr. Sashitola Ozukum and Dr. Keneisezo Kuotsu, delivered lectures on “Tick-borne blood parasitic diseases of pet animals and their management & control” and “Tick-borne blood parasitic diseases of livestock and their management & control,” respectively.
