Nagaland: Awareness prog on blood donation held in Zunheboto

The Green Club Zunheboto organsied a one-day awareness programme on blood donation on October 2 at the Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church, themed “Save Life, Give Blood,” with senior specialist, District Hospital, Dr. Akaho Sema, as the speaker.


In his speech, Dr. Akaho Sema highlighted the urgent need for blood donations, noting that many lives have been saved through this act. He explained that blood is crucial for patients with kidney failure, cancer, those injured in car accidents, and for individuals affected by natural disasters or childbirth.


Dr. Sema also emphasized that donating blood is not only life-saving but beneficial for the donor’s health, as it enhances the immune system and replenishes blood cells.


He encouraged individuals aged 18 to 65 who weigh over 50 kg to consider donating blood, stating they can do so up to four times a year. He highlighted various health benefits associated with blood donation, including a lower risk of high blood pressure and skin infections, as well as the opportunity for free medical check-ups.


Earlier, the programme was chaired by president, Green Club, Tavinto K. Sumi who informed that the club had been actively donating blood for the past 12 to 13 years to support patients in need.

Invocation by was offered by pastor of ZTSBC, Rev. Inakhu Sumi, benediction by pastor NCRC Zunheboto, Kughavi V. Chishi and a special presentation was performed by Ahuka Aye.
