Nagaland Bank unions flay attempted robbery

DIMAPUR, NOV 1 (NPN)

DIMAPUR, NOV 1 (NPN): All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) Nagaland state, State Bank of India Officers’ Association (NEC), Dimapur region, State Bank of India Staff Association (NEC), Dimapur region and SC/ST Employee Welfare Association, Dimapur region jointly condemned the attempted armed robbery at the SBI Chedema Branch, Kohima on October 31. In a joint statement, secretaries of state AIBOC Imtisanen Ao, SBIOA (NEC) Dimapur region TL Lango Neikha, SBISA (NEC) Dimapur Ekhonthung Nguliie and SEWA Dimapur Philip Nringmei called for immediate and enhanced security across all bank branches
and ensure the safety and well-being of bank employees and customers.
The signatories said that the incident, which involved an unidentified gunman brandishing a weapon and threatening bank officials and staff with dire consequences, was “an audacious assault” not only on the banking fraternity but also on the overall safety and security of the region.
They said that the incident also served as an example of how easily miscreant(s) could subvert the “so called security” in Bank Branches and carry out a daring heist in broad daylight.
The unions stated that “this dastardly act” caused immense psychological trauma to the staff and shattered the sense of security among employees working in the banking sector.
The unions have, therefore, urged the law enforcing agency to promptly apprehend the culprit(s) involved in the crime.
