Baptist Church Changki (BCC) is celebrating its quasquicentennial anniversary with a two-day programme from January 10 to 11, 2026 at Changki village, Mokokchung district, marking 125 years of Christian faith, service and fellowship.
The historic milestone has drawn church leaders, members, villagers including those residing in urban areas, and invited guests from across the region, reflecting the enduring legacy of one of the oldest Baptist churches in the area.
Observed on the theme “Kibuba tenüng uludakjang”, the celebration features spiritual, community and commemorative events highlighting the church’s journey since its establishment.
The programme began on Saturday night with a thanksgiving service, featuring sermons and exhortations reflecting on the growth of the church and its role in shaping the spiritual and social fabric of Changki village and beyond. Delivering the evening sermon, Rev. Dr. Akok Amri, pastor of Impur Baptist Arogo, dwelt on the generosity of God in showering blessings upon His people.
Various activities including choir presentations, special prayers and sharing sessions were organised. On the eve of the opening day, organisers carried out a special initiative by identifying the two eldest persons in the village—one male and one female—and presented them with certificates and gifts. Villagers aged above 80 were also visited, prayed for and gifted.
A historical recounting of the church’s formation and progress over the decades was presented, offering younger generations insight into the sacrifices and commitment of their forebears.
The second day will feature a thanksgiving worship service, bringing together the congregation in a spirit of grace and celebration, followed by a valedictory programme in the evening.
Over the past 125 years, BCC has played a significant role not only in religious life but also in education, moral guidance and social cohesion within the village. The quasquicentennial celebration stands as a moment of gratitude and reflection while looking ahead to continue the church’s mission in the years to come.
