Nagaland begins ‘Unlock 1’ from today

After almost one and a half months of lockdown, the first phase of unlocking economic and other activities in the state would commence from July 1, for a period of 10 days.

The High Powered Committee (HPC) on Covid-19 on June 28 decided to ease lockdown curbs in a phased manner. HPC, however, pointed out that Unlock 1 would be an observation period for taking further decision.

In order to avoid lockdown in future, the government stressed on adhering to strict Covid-appropriate behaviour, ‘no mask-no movement’ and ‘no mask-no entry’ and also to ramp up testing and vaccination. In an order, chief secretary J Alam issued the fresh guidelines for phase-1 of the ‘unlocking’ process. (See infographic)

Further, the government has empowered the District Task Forces (DTFs) to take additional stricter measures in their respective districts/area based on local conditions if, in their opinion, such measures were urgently required for containing the spread of Covid-19.

Dimapur: Shops/business establishments dealing with essential goods and commodities and public utility services like LPG and E-commerce services etc could remain open on all the days from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

All other shops/business establishments dealing with all kinds of goods/items/articles have been permitted to open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. 

All shops located in New Market, Hongkong Market and Hazi Park would be allowed to open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Odd-Even basis. 

Barber shops, Salons and Spas shall be allowed to open after ensuring vaccination of the persons/attendants running those shops. 

For this, application could be submitted to administrator DMC, administrator Chumukedima Town Council/Medziphema Town Council/Niuland town Council or concerned area administrative officer. 

Kohima: Shops/business establishments dealing with all kinds of goods/items/articles, including those dealing with essential goods and commodities, have been permitted to open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays except pharmacies. 

Restaurants/eateries would be allowed to operate take-away/food delivery on all days. Delivery of LPGs and e-commerce service operators would also be allowed to operate on all days. 

Barber shops, beauty parlours, spas, salons etc where close physical interaction cannot be avoided would be permitted to open after sending application for the same to the Kohima DTF and on after due approval, they would be permitted to open.

Light Motor Vehicles including Taxis would continue to ply within Kohima district on odd-even basis. However, taxis are not authorised to charge fares higher than those fixed by the RTA. Vaccination status of taxi driver would also be prominently displayed in the windshield of the Taxi. Bus service, two-wheeler taxi service and pillion riding would remain suspended. 

Mass public transportation and inter-district movement of people for non-essential services would continue to remain suspended.

Any action (s) in contravention with the order would deem to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of the IPC and under relevant provisions.

Odd-Even rule in Dimapur, Kohima

DIMAPUR, JUN 30 (NPN): The ‘odd-even’ rule for vehicular movements in Dimapur district and Kohima municipal areas will remain in force till July 10, 2021.

Dimapur: In an order, commissioner of police Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo said that essential movement of all vehicles will be based on odd-even number days already in place. Those under exempted category have been advised to carry ID-cards issued by respective HoDs.

Kohima: In an order, deputy commissioner and chairman DTF Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie has notified that movement of private vehicles will be allowed as per odd-even numbered vehicles under Kohima Municipal Council jurisdiction, except on Sundays.
